Harry loves Big Bang's box set experiments, videos, and classes. He asked why he couldn't have classes weekly instead of bi-weekly. He also applies what he has learned in daily life. He told me that a rectangular column has better loading ability than a prism shape after the "engineering workshop," and that's why we always see cylindrical columns. It's great to see Harry's enthusiasm for learning.

How do I apply?

What do I need to prepare?

What's next after completion of trial class?

Students who score distinction or merit will be nominated to join Project Alpha Program. The accelerated program is designed for gifted and talented children in science which includes home experiments, workshops, excursions, presentation training and opportunity to compete in a big-scale science fair.

Where are the workshop locations for Project Alpha Program?

Classes of Project Alpha are hosted in Wan Chai Big Bang Playlab and Tsim Sha Tsui K11 Musea Victoria Playpark.

What is the language of the test?

The test will have both Chinese and English. If needed, teachers can read out the questions in the preferred language to the students.

What can I expect?

Children will have the opportunity to do GSAT paper test and make their DIY Optical Telescope with classmates. Teachers will observe your child performance. Together with the test report, you will receive a STEM strength report.

What is the format of the GSAT test?

The GSAT will be examining student's Scientific Knowledge, Scientific Thinking Skills and Science Enthusiasm. All questions are in MC format (in English & Chinese).

What is the Show & Tell Practice?

The Show & Tell Practice gives students an opportunity to bring in an item from home and share it with their classmates. During a show and tell session, a student will "show" the item to their classmates by holding it up, displaying it, or demonstrating its use, and then "tell" the class about the item, providing information, stories, or explanations related to it.

What age is appropriate for joining Project Alpha? How do you decide the age group?

Project Alpha is suitable for childern aged 3 - 11. We currently have three levels, namely Level 1 for kindergarten students, Level 2 for junior primary school students and Level 3 for senior primary school students.

What is Project Alpha?

Project Alpha is the flagship program of Big Bang Academy. Every cohort, Big Bang Academy assesses and selects the 200 future science leaders to join our 6-month accelerated programme, with the aim to nurture the next generation of scientists, inventors and leaders.

Project Alpha comprises of a series of international curriculum-aligned lessons, hands-on experiment projects, monthly special workshops, students exhibitions and a final presentation. It utilises a fully immersive hybrid learning model to train students’ 21st century skills such as leadership, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving and communication.
